RTG Delivers IPTV Turnkey Solution for Oklahoma Health Network

When a major health network in Oklahoma was expanding to build a new heart hospital, they needed a turnkey solution for their patient-facing television services. Remar Technologies Group worked with the local cable company and Vizient to deploy IPTV services with a new PDi setup. 

Project Background 

This major health network in Oklahoma wanted to distribute an IP system over their network along with new PDi televisions. RTG worked with Vizient, the hospital project management team, and PDi manufacturing to establish a system that would address current and future technology needs.

HIPAA rights also affected what we could do. We needed to keep the IPTV network separate from the production network. This gave us the ability to remote access the network through a series of preconfigured network switches without compromising privacy. 

Project Solution 

With those given parameters, we proposed a full turnkey solution—a management system with all of the switches that would distribute the IPTV multicast stream throughout the hospital. 

Utilizing RTG/PDi preconfigured switches prevents network flooding on the hospital’s production network. An isolated network protected the hospital and relieved the burden on the local IT team by giving us complete ownership of the system. 

The full turnkey solution included new TV’s (installed by a local vendor) with a new IPTV system throughout the entire building that worked as a plug and play solution. Overall, we had about 130 total endpoints. With complete ownership of the system, we can provide a remote management system to the hospital to make adjustments to the channel lineup without physically accessing the internal hospital systems or sending a technician onsite. 

The Outcome 

We completed this project at the beginning of 2024, and it’s been up and running this entire time without a single issue. The major health network has loved the solution and is looking to deploy more of these systems in other buildings.
